AC Installation Spokane
New AC Installation and Replacement, Sized for Spokane Summers
A new air conditioner is a 10- to 15-year decision, and the installation matters as much as the equipment. An oversized AC cycles on and off, wears out early and leaves the house clammy. An undersized one runs all afternoon and still can’t keep up in July. Cline’s sizes every system to your home, not to the old unit’s label.
We fix first and replace last, so if your current AC still has good years left, we’ll tell you. When a new system is the better value, you’ll get clear options in writing, with equipment, installation scope and financing laid out before you decide.
Know the Signs
Signs It's Time to Replace Your AC
Not sure it’s time? We’ll give you an honest repair-or-replace recommendation. If a repair makes more sense, we’ll say so and point you to AC repair.
It's 10 to 15+ Years Old
Most central air conditioners last 10 to 15 years. Past that, efficiency drops, parts get harder to find and the risk of a mid-summer failure climbs.
It Uses R-22 Refrigerant
R-22 is no longer produced, so recharging an older system is expensive. A major repair on an R-22 system is usually a good time to upgrade.
It Needs Repairs Every Summer
One repair is normal. A capacitor, then a fan motor, then a refrigerant leak in back-to-back summers usually means the money is better spent on a new system.
It Runs All Day but the House Stays Warm
Long run times can come from a worn system, leaky ducts or an AC that was never sized right. We find the cause before recommending new equipment.
Some Rooms Never Cool Down
Hot upstairs bedrooms and uneven temperatures often trace back to duct design or airflow. A good replacement plan fixes the comfort problem, not just the outdoor unit.
A Major Part Failed
A failed compressor or coil on an older system can cost about half the price of a new one. We compare the repair with replacement so you can decide.

Your Options
Cooling Options for Spokane Homes
As a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, we install Carrier cooling equipment and help you match the system to your home, budget and existing furnace. A single-stage AC runs at full output every time. A two-stage AC runs on low most of the time for quieter, steadier cooling. A variable-speed AC adjusts in small steps for the most even comfort and humidity control.
Thinking about one system for both heating and cooling? See our heat pump installation options.

How It Works
Our AC Installation Process
1. In-Home Consultation
We look at your home’s layout, insulation, windows and sun exposure, plus the furnace, ductwork, electrical and refrigerant lines, and calculate how much cooling the home actually needs.
2. Options in Writing
You get clear choices with equipment, efficiency ratings, installation scope, warranties and financing, so you can compare without pressure.
3. Installation Day
We protect your home, remove the old equipment and install the new outdoor unit, matched indoor coil, refrigerant lines, drain and thermostat.
4. Testing and Startup
We verify refrigerant charge, airflow, temperature drop, drainage and every safety control before we call the job done.
5. Walkthrough and Support
We show you the thermostat and filter, explain your warranty and set up your first spring tune-up.
Efficiency and Refrigerant
What's New in Air Conditioners for 2026
SEER2 is the efficiency rating for air conditioners. The federal minimum for a split-system AC is 13.4 SEER2, and Carrier’s lineup runs from about 16 SEER2 in the Comfort series up to 21 SEER2 in the Infinity series. Higher ratings cost more up front and save more on long, hot summers.
New refrigerant: new Carrier air conditioners use R-454B, called Puron Advance, which has a much lower climate impact than the R-410A in most current systems. A new outdoor unit needs an indoor coil designed for its refrigerant, so we always quote a matched system. Your existing R-410A system can still be serviced and repaired.

Questions
AC Installation FAQs for Spokane Homeowners
How much does AC installation cost in Spokane?
It depends on the system type, size, efficiency and staging, plus any refrigerant line, electrical, drain or ductwork updates. Cline's gives you options with upfront, written pricing before any work begins. For a quick ballpark, use the instant quote on our website.
How long does AC installation take?
Most straightforward replacements are finished in a day. New systems, electrical upgrades, ductwork changes or multi-zone ductless installs can take longer. We'll give you the timeline with your written estimate.
What warranty comes with a new air conditioner?
Every AC we install comes with a 10-year limited parts warranty and our 10-year installation workmanship guarantee. We'll walk you through the coverage when we install your system.
What size air conditioner does my home need?
It depends on your home's layout, insulation, windows, sun exposure and ductwork, not square footage alone or the size of your old unit. We measure your home and calculate its cooling needs so the new AC isn't too big or too small.
Can I replace my AC without replacing my furnace?
Often, yes. The new outdoor unit needs a matched indoor coil, and we check that your furnace blower, controls and cabinet can work with it. We'll tell you which parts can stay and which should change.
Should I choose central air or a heat pump?
A central air conditioner cools and works alongside your furnace. A heat pump cools in summer and also heats your home. The right choice depends on your current system, fuel source and budget. See our heat pump installation page to compare.
What SEER2 rating should I choose?
The federal minimum for a split-system AC is 13.4 SEER2, and Carrier's lineup runs from about 16 to 21 SEER2. Higher ratings cost more up front and save more on energy. We'll show you the tradeoff for your home and budget.
What is R-454B, and does it affect my old system?
R-454B, which Carrier calls Puron Advance, is the refrigerant in new Carrier air conditioners. It has a much lower climate impact than R-410A. A new outdoor unit needs an indoor coil designed for it, so we quote a matched system. Existing R-410A systems can still be serviced and repaired.
Are there rebates or tax credits for a new AC in 2026?
The federal 25C tax credit ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025, and Avista doesn't currently offer a central AC rebate. Programs change, so we'll check what applies when we prepare your proposal.
Do you offer financing on new air conditioners?
Yes. Financing is available, and we'll go over current plans when we give you your written options.
